During the past 15 years of auctions in Las Vegas, Barrett-Jackson has showcased numerous collections, one of the most notable being an assortment of 10 vehicles from the estate of Danny Gans at the 2010 event. Gans, an American singer, comedian, vocal impressionist and philanthropist, was a renowned award-winning headliner in Las Vegas. His remarkable collection encompassed a variety of vehicles, including Hot Rod Fords, 1950s Chevrolets, muscle cars and modern performance vehicles.

Now, for the 2023 Las Vegas Auction, Barrett-Jackson is delighted to present Gans’ distinctive 1967 Mustang Shelby GT500 Eleanor replica, which has remained in the possession of the entertainer’s family since his untimely passing in 2009.

“Danny was an icon in Las Vegas and a man of many talents,” said Craig Jackson, chairman and CEO of Barrett-Jackson. “He was also known to have a real love for cars, and this vehicle he had built in 2002 is a true piece of art. Always very popular at our auctions, these replica builds of the famed Eleanor are prized among collectors. Combining a desirable, beautiful car with the provenance of a Las Vegas star like Danny, this car will certainly ignite the energy in the arena with Barrett-Jackson’s bidders.”

Selling with No Reserve during the 2023 Las Vegas Auction, June 22-24 at the West Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center, the custom Mustang, Lot #767, was commissioned by Gans in 2002 and built by Cinema Vehicle Services in California. Just 4,000 miles have been put on the car and the drivetrain since its build. A Certificate of Authenticity issued by Cinema Vehicles Services, Los Angeles, California, is included with the sale.

Underneath the hood, the Mustang boasts an impressive 400-horsepower, 351ci Windsor V8 engine. This powerhouse is equipped with a Clay Smith cam, forged pistons, roller rockers, an elevated performer intake manifold and a Holley 650CFM 4-barrel dual-pump carburetor. Working in harmony with the engine is a 5-speed manual transmission featuring a Centerforce clutch. Additionally, the Mustang is fitted with rear posi-traction axles sporting 3.0 ratio gears for optimal performance. Ensuring confident stopping power are the 4-wheel disc brakes with a power booster, while power-assist rack & pinion steering provides precise handling on the road.

Enhancing its stylish appearance and performance, the Mustang gracefully glides on PS Engineering custom wheels measuring 17×9.5 inches out back and 17×8 up front. These wheels are encased in Z-rated tires, ensuring excellent traction and handling capabilities. To achieve optimal suspension geometry, the A-arms have been repositioned to accommodate Shelby drop spindles. Notable suspension components incorporated in the Mustang include 620 coil springs, shock tower saddles, KYB shocks, 1-inch front and rear sway bars, and 5-leaf mid-eye rear springs.

This custom vehicle was constructed using a genuine 1967 Mustang fastback that originally housed a factory 289ci V8 engine. It also showcases a meticulously crafted body that incorporates a blend of original Ford steel components and custom molds made from Total Control Products’ fiberglass. These molds were specifically cast from the ones utilized on the iconic Eleanor movie car featured in “Gone in 60 Seconds.”

Within the cabin, the Mustang features Shelby-style seats from the 1967 model, complemented by a convenient fold-down rear seat. The interior is further adorned with notable features that include an AM/FM cassette radio equipped with four speakers, ensuring an enjoyable audio experience. To combat warmer temperatures, a Vintage Air system is installed, providing refreshing cold-air circulation. Enhancing the interior aesthetics are Phantom custom-mounted gauges, offering clear and stylish instrumentation. The Lecarra wood steering wheel, embellished with a Shelby emblem, adds a touch of elegance and heritage. Completing the interior layout is a floor-mounted center console, combining functionality and convenience.

“It’s an honor to continue working with the Gans family and to have the opportunity to feature a car so connected to the great Danny Gans,” said Steve Davis, president of Barrett-Jackson. “We look forward to sharing Danny’s love of car collecting once again. This special vehicle owned by one of Vegas’ greats is certain to create another memorable auction moment when it crosses the block later this month.”
