CCM Motorcycles epitomizes the symbiosis between motorcycle manufacturers and the custom scene. The boutique British brand’s offerings are all based on the same lightweight single, and they all riff on popular custom styles. So motorcycle customization is quite literally baked into what they do.

Now CCM is taking things up a notch, by offering a commission service that will pretty much go as deep as your pockets allow. This CCM Tracker and Roadster are the first two commissioned bikes off the production line—and despite how good they look, they only scratch the surface of what’s on offer.

The concept is as simple as it is brilliant. The six models currently in CCM’s catalog are all built using the company’s likable Spitfire platform. The Spitfire uses a twin-spar chromoly trellis frame, with a 600 cc single-cylinder motor kicking out 55 hp.

CCM uses different subframes, seats, wheels, exhausts, handlebars, and finishes to give each model its distinct style. And with a dry weight in the region of 145 kilos [320 lbs], depending on the trim, each is barrels of fun in its own way.

In his play “Romeo and Juliet,” William Shakespeare famously wrote, “What’s in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet.” In the realm of custom vehicles, however, a name can mean everything.

A custom build’s moniker often tells a story or reveals something about the car’s history, characteristics or the journey its owner or builder has experienced. Names can embody specific themes, qualities or aspirations. For instance, a high-performance car might be given a powerful, aggressive name, while a classic or luxury vehicle might be bestowed with a name that conveys elegance and style.

Naming a car gifts it a unique identity, particularly for custom vehicles tailored to reflect the builder’s personal taste and style. A car with a unique name is more easily recognized and remembered, especially at car shows, events or among fellow car enthusiasts. It helps the car stand out and be easily identifiable.

1965 LINCOLN CONTINENTAL CONVERTIBLE: Selling with No Reserve at the 2024 Scottsdale Fall Auction

This 1965 Lincoln Continental convertible in stock condition is powered by the original 430ci engine and was repainted Presidential Black before it was acquired by the current owner. It was inspected and improved by Baker Auto, a renowned Lincoln expert, when the car was in Connecticut. This 4-door convertible with coach or “suicide” doors is finished in triple-black and is fully loaded with air conditioning, an AM/FM radio, power windows (including vent windows) and power seat, door locks, top, steering, brakes and antenna. The year 1965 was the last of Elwood Engel’s original Lincoln Continental design that debuted in 1961. This car has been owned by a Montana-based LLC, was maintained by a collector for the last 14 years and has always been kept in a climate-controlled classic car storage facility.

Kawasaki finally joins the 250cc off-road competition segment with its KX250X dirt bike. Based off its KX250 motocrosser, this new motorcycle model benefits from many of the same upgrades introduced in last year’s flagship KX450 lineup.

The KX250X distinguishes itself from Kawasaki’s dedicated motocross bike, the KX250, with softer suspension settings, an 18-inch rear wheel, Dunlop Geomax AT81 tires (learn more about Dunlop’s newer Geomax AT82 enduro tire during the Top 5 Features of Dunlop’s Geomax AT82 Rear Tire review), a side/kickstand, and a sealed and more heavy-duty O-ring final drive chain. The new bike is set to retail for $9,099 and is due out later this summer.

The first and most significant update to the 2025 KX250X is a heavily reworked engine, which Kawasaki has redesigned to boost low and midrange power. The 249cc DOHC engine now inherits a lighter and stronger piston from Kawasaki’s factory racing efforts, and also sees the addition of a single-shaft primary balancer for smoother power delivery with less vibration.

Aside from those changes, fans of Kawasaki’s last major update to the KX250 back in 2022 will recognize a few familiar themes here. Valve angles have once again been narrowed to improve combustion efficiency, and the downdraft-style intake tract has been further straightened to better align with the exhaust ports. Kawasaki says the intake and exhaust tracts are now fully symmetrical, a feat which also required shifting the cylinder itself five degrees further forward.

You’ll notice a few other major updates on the left handlebar, which now includes buttons for ECU mapping and traction control in addition to the launch control feature carried over from last year. That means you no longer need to carry around color-coded dongles to tune engine behavior, a long-overdue upgrade for Team Green.

Kawasaki has also integrated the same smartphone connectivity found on its flagship 450 into the new KX250X, which includes fine-tuning of the bike’s fueling maps and ignition timing as well as real-time monitoring of the engine’s rpm, intake pressure, coolant temperature, and more. All this is controlled via Kawasaki’s Rideology the App, which also includes convenient logs for routine maintenance and bike setup.

The 250X will also get the same lightweight aluminum perimeter frame design found on the current KX450, which Kawasaki says is optimized for better front-end feel when cornering. The new frame is thoroughly reinforced for improved rigidity, but still weighs over half a pound less than the previous model.

As for suspension, Kawasaki has swapped the outgoing bike’s KYB suspenders for Showa components front and rear, and the 250X now comes spec’d with a 48mm inverted coil-spring fork and a shorter rear shock riding on Uni-Trak linkage out back. Kawasaki says that
