The 2023 Barrett-Jackson New Orleans Auction presented an extraordinary array of outstanding pickup trucks and SUVs, both contemporary and vintage. This event celebrated one of the collector car hobby’s most rapidly expanding and cherished segments. Below are the best-selling pickup trucks and SUVs at the 2023 New Orleans Auction:

LOT #782 – 1954 CHEVROLET CUSTOM PICKUP – $330,000

Picutred above and known as “Shadow,” this outstanding MetalWorks build was completed in 2023. Loaded with modern features, including a built 6.0-liter LS 630hp V8 engine, 4L80E automatic transmission and Art Morrison chassis. From the MS CLASSIC CARS Collection.

LOT #679 – 1959 CHEVROLET APACHE CUSTOM PICKUP “INDIAN OUTLAW” – $220,000

Full custom build by Creative Rods and Restoration. Big-block 396ci Chevrolet engine bored to 412ci, Holley Sniper EFI, Brodix heads, push-button 6-speed automatic transmission. Scott’s Hotrods chassis and a custom interior by Cato Custom Upholstery.

LOT #704 – 2024 GMC HUMMER EV SUV EDITION 1 VIN 001 – $172,700

Finished in Moonshot Green Matte, exclusive to the Edition 1. Fully electric and powered by the EV Ultium Platform, which enables off-road capability, on-road performance and an immersive driving experience, all with zero tailpipe emissions.

LOT #651 – 2022 RAM 1500 TRX IGNITION EDITION PICKUP – $148,500

Powered by a 6.2-liter 702hp supercharged 8-cylinder engine with 650 ft/lbs of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Features Bilstein Blackhawk E2 suspension and 4-wheel drive, and rides on Goodyear Wrangler All-Terrain tires.

LOT #770 – 2023 FORD RAPTOR R PICKUP – $132,000

Powered by a 5.2-liter supercharged engine. Finished in Code Orange Metallic color. Has not been dealer-prepped; still has plastic on it. 102 actual miles.

LOT #700 – 2016 MERCEDES-BENZ G63 BRABUS CUSTOM SUV – $132,000

Powered by a 5.5-liter twin-turbo 8-cylinder engine paired with a 7-speed shiftable automatic transmission. Underwent a 4×4 conversion featuring certified Brabus performance and chassis enhancements in December 2021. 41,717 actual miles.

LOT #773 – 1973 FORD BRONCO SPORT CUSTOM SUV – $110,000

Recipient of an extensive frame-off restoration finished by OMF Car Craft. Powered by an electronic-fuel-injection BluePrint 302ci V8 crate engine paired to a 4-speed automatic transmission. Equipped with a Vintage Air system, custom seats and Fox shocks.

LOT #811 – 1967 CHEVROLET C10 CUSTOM PICKUP – $99,000

Powered by a 5.3-liter V8 engine and 4L60E automatic overdrive transmission. Has a late-model Camaro rear axle, power steering, 4-wheel power disc brakes, tilt wheel, air conditioning, new glass and weatherstripping, and new interior with chrome trim.

LOT #796 – 2022 FORD BRONCO HENNESSEY VELOCIRAPTOR 400 CUSTOM SUV – $88,000

Powered by a 2.7-liter V6 turbocharged engine. The vehicle is upgraded with full vehicle protection film, engine management software, exhaust system, high-flow air filter action, heat exchanger and 35-inch off-road tires.

LOT #780 – 1970 CHEVROLET C10 CUSTOM PICKUP – $88,000

Pro-Touring build powered by a GM performance LS3 crate engine with a 2.9-liter Whipple supercharger, mated to a T56 magnum 6-speed transmission with a McLeod dual-disc clutch. Equipped with RideTech control arms, coilover shocks and RideTech sway bars.

And if you don’t believe us, this fully-faired Interceptor 650 from Bobby Fuego, founder of Rollin Machines in Malaysia, should convince you.

Bobby was in the market for a new ride, and happens to have a strong connection to Royal Enfield Malaysia—so picking the Interceptor 650 for the project was a no-brainer.

A custom Kawasaki ER-6N from Indonesia leads the charge, followed by a custom Buell XB12X Ulysses from Italy. Moto Borgotaro teases us with a stunning 1983 Ducati 600 TT2, and Tamarit proves their mastery of Triumph motorcycles with a menacing Triumph Bobber.

Kawasaki ER-6N by Katros Garage A quick scroll through Katros Garage’s social media channels yields impressive results. Andi Akbar, the workshop’s founder and proprietor, and his team have been pumping out all manner of custom bikes for some years. From choppers to café racers and everything in between, the Indonesian outfit is one of Southeast Asia’s best.

For this custom Kawasaki ER-6N project, Katros Garage teamed up with Ziko, a fellow Indonesian and professional drift racer. Ziko is partial to a nice motorcycle, but this is his first custom bike, so he wanted it to be as easy to ride as possible. With the brief calling for upright ergonomics, chunky rubber, and futuristic style, the group decided on a street tracker build.

They say that perfect is the enemy of good. But when it comes to high-end custom motorcycles, shouldn’t perfection be the goal? Having never built a custom motorcycle in this style before, that’s the standard that Purpose Built Moto set for themselves with this Yamaha XS650 chopper.

Delays with parts and other builds meant this project took the Australian workshop more than 18 months to complete. The silver lining was that this extensive time frame meant they could pore over every detail in the pursuit of perfection.

“There are plenty of Yamaha XS650 chopper builds out there,” says the workshop’s founder, Tom Gilroy, “but there are very few that look well laid out and finished right. Generally, kit frames make the bike look too long and punch the steering angle out too much. We wanted a fast-handling, performance chopper.”

Purpose Built Moto started by stripping the bike down, lopping the rear half of the frame off, and setting the headstock in a jig with a rake of 27 degrees. Then the real work began.
