Emerging twin brother DJ duo and Progressive Afro House producers FiNE have teamed up with Lizwi to release their debut MoBlack single “The Light.”

“The Light” is an extraordinary fusion of Progressive Afro House and traditional African sounds. The combination of the unique musical backgrounds of the FiNE twins and Lizwi creates a sonic experience that is both captivating and deeply rooted in their shared heritage.

Since moving to Los Angeles recently, FiNE have been taking the local scene by storm with recurring shows at La Mesa called FiNE Fridays, and additional sets at venues including Hotel Shangri-La, The Mondrian, Aya Lounge Beverly Hills, The Cooks Garden in Venice, Cafe Roma and more. They also played the prestigious livestream location EPHIMERA Tulum to deliver a top notch Progressive Afro House sunset mix, which can be watched HERE.

To celebrate the release, FiNE will be playing a show alongside Ardalan, Payam and Mansion with Definition Presents at the Mondrian in Los Angeles on August 5th. Tickets are available HERE.

FiNE is an artist project from twin brothers born in Johannesburg, and raised in Botswana. Given their upbringing, they describe their music and DJ sets as Progressive Afro House. With a life journey already covering South Africa, Botswana, Israel and Australia, they have deep connections to global audiences and it shows through their signature sound. It’s undeniable that the twins’ multicultural upbringing shapes their Afro-infused DJ sets and original productions.

Craig and Darren Fine, twin brothers, share an unbreakable lifelong bond like most siblings. However, their journey in life has been extraordinary and has shaped them into unique individuals and musical artists. The Fine brothers, pioneers of the Progressive Afro House genre, have developed their distinctive sound through a blend of diverse musical influences.

Originally from Johannesburg, South Africa, Craig and Darren relocated to Botswana during their early schooling years. As expatriates in Botswana, they embraced the local customs, culture, and music. The brothers displayed their musical talents at a very young age with Craig on drums, Darren on piano, and both playing instruments like steel pans and marimbas.

During their time in high school, Craig and Darren moved to Sydney, Australia, where they immersed themselves in the vibrant local electronic music scene. Their next adventure took them to Tel Aviv, where they balanced a day job while refining their fresh and eclectic sound in the city’s pulsating underground scene. They performed at numerous venues and festivals, including a prominent slot on the main stage at the Corona Sunsets Festival, garnering international support.

Following their overseas success, the Fine brothers returned to Australia, captivating audiences from coast to coast at the country’s hottest venues. Eventually, they settled in their current home of Los Angeles. With their unique sound, FiNE has made waves in the Melodic and Afro House charts, consistently achieving top 10 Beatport releases. Notable among their successes is a remix of Paul Okenfold and Aloe Blacc’s hit “I’m In Love” and their chart-topping debut EP “Forbidden Fruit” released on Australia’s esteemed label, Recovery Collective. In November 2022, they celebrated the release of their newest single “Cloud 9” on Recovery Collective. The original track captures the essence of FiNE’s Progressive Afro House style–melodic, driving, euphoric, and yet possessing a distinct edge. The single’s remix package features interpretations from renowned artists such as Kalil, Elliott Creed, and Jack Colletta. Most recently, FiNE collaborated with EPHIMERA Tulum, delivering a breathtaking live sunset mix.

Currently, FiNE is planning an end-of-year tour in South Africa, Australia, and Bali. With their unparalleled sound, exceptional discography, and wealth of musical and life experiences, FiNE possesses an undeniable “it factor” that will captivate fans and propel the Progressive Afro House movement to new heights.

Mimmo’s (the label’s founder) tenure as Traxsource Afro House A&R Manager from 2016-2018 spanned some of the most formative and progressive eras for Afro House, motivating its inclusion as an official Beatport genre in 2018. But it is MoBlack’s house, MoBlack Records, that built a home for talented producers, from established names to up and coming superstars. The Italian born and globally raised artist has given back to the community, scouring the world for fresh sounds and showcasing sheer and raw talent to the global arena. MoBlack carried the onus on his shoulders, to evolve and advance the Afro House sound, and he delivered, setting the bar higher as he pushed the genre further, cross-pollinating into other genres.

EDMTunes New Music Friday – Week 4 (Part One)

Nicky Romero x Jaimes x Deniz Koyu Tomorrow Comes

Listen to the most flavour-packed tracks we discovered this week.

We’re back on our compilations! Music makes the world go round. And in that regard, we’re constantly on the lookout for new, exciting tunes to share with our audience. We’ve found some that cause goosebumps, and make you open your eyes and get up from your chair to dance. So put on your best pair of headphones, or turn up your speakers, and enjoy this week’s New Music Friday.

Here are our top picks for the best music we came across this week, in no particular order.

Nicky Romero, Deniz Koyu & Jaimes – Tomorrow Comes

Genre: Progressive House, Big Room

Nicky Romero x Jaimes x Deniz Koyu Tomorrow Comes 1

A collaboration of cosmic proportions is the one in charge of opening the 2024 season of New Music Fridays here at EDMT. Dance legends Nicky Romero and Deniz Koyu meet the powerful voice of Jaimes for a stunning composition.

Tomorrow Comes‘ is pure Progressive House bliss. You know Romero’s sound by now. Pair that melody with Koyu’s groove and you’ve got yourself a very interesting and uplifting piece. Honestly, it couldn’t be any other way with such masters at work.

Genre: Tech House

Coming your way from Eastside Long Beach is DJ and producer FLOYD WEST22, a talent who is rising fast like the foam on a badly poured beer. Unlike said beer, though, FLOYD’s rise is pretty tasty. Making beats with the heart of Tech House but the energy of harder-hitting genres, this one is one to watch closely.

QUEEN OF HEARTS‘ is FLOYD’s latest journey. Contrasting crowded segments with silence, and pairing dry percussion with tremolo’d vocals, you’d better be ready to try and digest the amount of groove this track contains. Quite the track if you ask us.

Emi Galvan & DJ Zombi – Train Affair

Genre: Organic House

Emi Galvan x DJ Zombi Train Affair

Songuara, an Organic House record label which saw quite the jump in the charts throughout 2023, is kicking off 2024 with a proper bang. This time, two continents come together, for Emi Galvan & DJ Zombi joined forces for the Frequency Shift EP.

Train Affair‘ is side B of the EP, and to say it’s savoury would be a tremendous understatement. Hypnotic arpeggios, ever-evolving sounds, and spacial textures meet the crispiest percussion to achieve an overall state only properly crafted Organic House can lead you to.

Gigamesh – Holding On

Genre: Chicago House, Old-School House

Gigamesh Holding On

Warning, you may be teleported all the way to the 1970s Disco era with this gem! Based in the City of Angels, Matt Masurka, known in the business as Gigamesh, has built quite the career for years now. Having worked on a variety of Billboard 100 singles plus an extensive discography, his creativity knows no bounds.

Holding On‘ instantly caught our eye, and our ear. It’s a track that proves old is gold, by using a plethora of vintage, Disco-inspired sounds over a Chicago House base. From funky guitar tapping to the most thematic vocal possible — raspy and everything —, you won’t want to pause the song once you’ve hit ‘Play’.

Daniel Kick – Hit Me Up

Genre: Future Garage

Daniel Kick Hit Me Up

Daniel Kick is, for certain, a force to be reckoned with. With little following on socials yet an incredible sound quality, we’re certain 2024 will be his year. Born in Ukraine and currently residing in Poland, Kick usually delivers Bass House bangers. Not this time, though: he’s crafted something quite touching we wanted to share.

Hit Me Up‘ is not any ordinary song; it’s an ethereal, airy, futuristic walk in the park. Birds meet smooth leads, neverending chords will soothe your mind, and, to top it all, the drops are gentle but fast-paced, and remind us of a certain guy whose name ends with again

Yannick Mueller – Not Enough

Genre: Organic House, Deep House

Yannick Mueller Not Enough

We called it before! If there’s something that characterises the essence of Yannick Mueller, is going against the current. Innovating is his strongest feature, and he makes sure to let that be known. Today, for instance, he’s not coming with a Melodic Techno piece like last time.

Coming in hot with a brand-new Organic House track, Mueller is exploring yet another dimension of sound through a hybrid product of the catchy percussion of said genre and the essence of Deep House, resulting in a warm, soft, yet dynamic tune. Lovely!

EddyThron Further Explores His Aloft Moniker On New Release ‘Callao & Santa Fe’

Smaller EddyThron 09 1024x683 1

Here’s a track in which groove and Dance meet the melancholy of a long-gone past.

Starting off the year, we’ve seen a handful of artists unveil their first compositions during January, hyping up the entire season for their fans and listeners alike. John Summit already shared his remix of ‘Sweet Disposition’ alongside Silver Panda, ARTBAT and Another Life released ‘In Your Arms‘, and, just before February, rising artist EddyThron released a piece of his own repertoire.

EddyThron pres. Aloft

Entering his fourteenth year involved in Dance music, EddyThron, originally a Trance producer, has brought his alternative, slower, Organic House subalias, EddyThron pres. Aloft, to complete yet another heartfelt single.

The Aloft project has had a couple of interesting months lately”, says Eddy. “After the initial ATOP set premiered in April, I came back to Argentina to play Organic House, which has seemed to resonate with the audience. In September I debuted in Merlo, a beautiful town full of amazing people, and just recently, I had a wonderful mini tour with two gigs in Buenos Aires and one in Mar del Plata”.

“Argentina will always have a special place in my heart. Its people have been watching — and launching — my career since the very beginning!”

On the heels of his latest journey in the Land of Tango, Eddy now released a warm, yet slightly nostalgic tribute to Buenos Aires. ‘Callao & Santa Fe’ is a track meant to forever remember that very intersection of the city in which Callao Avenue meets Santa Fe Avenue.

I always wanted to see that place from up above, and one day I met a girl who was actually residing on the fifth floor of an apartment right there”, he comments. “It was a very elegant and beautiful place, I enjoyed it every time we hung out in its halls. Until she told me she would be moving elsewhere. For the last night we would spend there, I promised myself I’d bring something special to play, as a last goodbye. This song was that goodbye. Between laughs, drinks, and a tad of sadness, we bid farewell to that unreal flat”.

Released through Madloch’s prestigious record label 3rd Avenue, the latest in the Aloft catalogue comes as part of the label’s biannual compilation, We Are The Future. The track itself is very minimalistic, and focuses its efforts on making a sad piano the star of the show. This piano, says Eddy, represents the feeling of being in that apartment for the last time. Paired with, yet not overshadowed by, groovy, dry percussion, ‘Callao & Santa Fe’ is the perfect song to reflect upon those small moments Life gives you.
