Goodbye, Trainers: It’s Boot Season

It goes without saying that flip-flops have no place in the outside world in the coming months, but our trusty friend, the trainer, should have a little time in hibernation also. During the winter months, a thin piece of canvas is not enough to keep our feet warm and dry as the temperature drops.

Thankfully, this is where the humble boot comes to the fore and I’m very much here for it.

Leather boots and shoes don’t always have to be an altogether formal affair. There are endless ways to wear boots and shoes without looking like you’ve watched Peaky Blinders once. Keeping the footwear smart actually allows for more freedom when choosing the rest of your clothes, as other fabrics and styles come into play: wool, twill and cashmere are fantastic choices for keeping the heat in. But before I get carried away with clothing, lets get back to why we’re here.

Birkenstock – Bryson

The Bryson is the perfect casual lace-up boot, boasting an understated, rustic look. The cork frame of the outer sole makes for an authentic design.

Paraboot – Michael BBR

One of the oldest names in French footwear, Paraboot create exceptional shoes with an unmistakable style. The sole has been crafted from tough rubber to provide comfort and grip in all conditions, and has been attached via the Norwegian welt method to create a tough and fully waterproof seal between sole and upper.

RKET- Penny Loafers

These smart looking penny loafers from ARKET are crafted from leather that has undergone a chrome-free tanning process. An updated classic in a comfortable slip-on style with stitched details.

Dune – Berties Cornfield

Bertie’s Cornfield ankle boot is a rugged addition to a casual wardrobe. Showcasing distressed detailing along with a burnished toecap, it features a smart zip fastening at the side.
