Recently we had the pleasure of visiting Hyatt Place London City East Hotel; a hotel lovingly formed with local East London history at the forefront of it’s design.
Find stunning geometric shapes and contemporary features throughout the hotel from the moment you walk in. A unique and mesmerising feature of the hotel is one that encapsulates pops of colour and art throughout, with a story to tell for each.
Any hotel that gives back to communities, understands the history of the area and can find ways to implement this into the hotel gets bonus points from me. This hotel successfully propels a true sense of East London through art and Ferness into the hotel. Local artists include
@jaycaes and @ollyfathers.
Dinner in the restaurant was surprising. With Brick Lane just round the corner, it was important for the hotel to offer something different and with purpose, something which they did very well. I was delighted to try the beetroot pickled salmon for starters and the cauliflower steak to follow. Our wonderful waiter advised us on the local ingredients and how a large part of the menu is tailored to mimic the seasons and the local availability- something I think many of us will appreciate. After dinner we visited PocketSquare which is said to be London’s newest rooftop bar and terrace with amazing views across the City skyline. With an array of inventive cocktails, created by an in-house team, this truly is a perfect place to host your couples retreat or girls trip. We sampled a couple of their signature cocktails which are unique in flavour but too strong for me, although there were plenty of other options to try. The room we stayed in was on the eight floor, with stunning views of East London from our Balcony. The room was simple and clean whilst again incorporating splashes of art consistent with the rest of the hotel.
This hotel is a memorable one, standing out from many of the chain hotels to offer an experience aligned with your whole trip. With so much to explore both inside and outside the hotel, I would recommend if ever in East London for the full East London experience.
