The latest exciting class that has been added to the much-awaited London Concours, presented by Montres Breguet has just been announced: Japanese Jewels. For 2022, Honourable Artillery Company, famed for putting together the most stunning range of machinery, will host a number of the finest motor cars ever to be released by a country that is revered by enthusiasts as the mecca of exquisite engineering and performance cars.

From June 28 to 30, an impressive array of cars will once again be seen in the heart of the The City. For three days, automotive enthusiasts will enjoy the indulgence of rare machinery on display. The latest class highlights one of the most popular sports car that embodies the genesis of Japanese performance machinery, the delicate and highly collectible Toyota 2000GT.

Produced during the years 1967 to 1970, the glamourous sporting coupe showed the world the capability of Japanese cars. It showed the world that aside from engineering excellence which Japanese Cars were already known for, these same cars can also be glamourous and capable.

Powered by a Yamaha fettled 2.0-liter, 150 bhp straight-six, matched with a lightweight body. It is capable of a top speed of 135 mph. Its claim to fame was its appearance in the beloved James Bond film ‘You Only Live Twice’. t is interesting to note that Sir Sean Connery’s 6 feet 2 inches frame had to be specially accommodated. Only 341 units of the 2000GT were produced so it is not surprising that it has reached blue-chip collector car status, with some examples reaching seven-figure sums in some transactions.

The most iconic Japanese performance car will also be featured in the coming event, the Nissan Skyline. Joining it is what is arguably its most extreme version, the R33 GT-R Nismo 400R. Even judging by the limited run-Skyline standards, the 400R is a really special model.

It was created to celebrate Nissan’s efforts at Le Mans back in 1995 and 1996, the 400R was equipped with an engine from a race car, a powerful RBX-GT2 twin-turbocharged 2.8-liter straight six engine. Nissan not only ignored the ‘’gentleman’s agreement’ between Japanese manufacturers wherein there was this silent agreement that stipulated road cars can only have 276 bhp, but they also completely ripped it apart with the 400$ when they gave it 400 bhp with a 9000 rpm red line. They only created 40 units so it is not surprising that it is considered to be one of the most coveted and valuable modern classics in the world. The event in June will give the guests an extremely rare chance to see this extremely rare and truly special motor car.

GT R

Another well-respected GT-R will also be in attendance at the Honourable Artillery Company., the R34 V-Spec II Nur. Its limited production run only produced 718 units and they came right after the production for the R34 ended in 2002. It was the perfect finale for the for the 5th generation GT-R. The Nur was equipped with some very important mechanical upgrades. It had an uprated ‘N1’ version of the RB26 motor, which is a variant that is optimized for racing, and it had a reinforced block, a couple of larger turbos, and motorsport piston. Nissan claimed that the tweaked motor of the Nur can produce 330 bhp, but decided that they needed to limit it to only 186 mph. There is some speculations that it just might be more powerful than Nissan has officially claimed. The London Concours will give guests a great chance to see an extremely rare model, which was also a perfect example for the analogue GT-Rs.

2023 Yamaha TW200 Review

Despite the adage, “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it,” it’s hard to believe that the Tuning Fork brand has been manufacturing its TW200 dual sport, with one careful, but modest set of updates for over three decades. But that’s the beauty of Yamaha’s 2023 TW200 ($4,899). A simple and affordable street-legal, dual sport motorcycle, the “Trail Way” last saw an revision for the 2001 model year, adding a disc brake and electric start.

The reason why these TW200′s are cool is because of its now retro styling. It offers a handsome ‘80s vibe reminiscent of other popular rectangular headlight bikes from that era (think Suzuki’s DR-Z). What’s old always becomes new and these bikes are back in style.

A classic dual sport, the TW200 can be ridden on and off-road. Oversized Bridgestone all-terrain balloon-style tires (18-inch front, 14-inch rear) and a surprisingly peppy 196cc four-stroke SOHC two-valve engine gets it moving. An air-cooled design is nothing fancy, but it is reliable, and the engine has enough pep for freeway-legal speeds.

Instrumentation is simple but effective. It is also a reminder of the past with its swept face speedometer and rolling odometer and resettable trip meter.

Getting the single fired is as simple as twisting the old-fashioned but signature Yamaha Motor mechanical key. Flip the ignition switch and let’s go for a ride. This engine features a counterbalancer but it certainly doesn’t quell all of the engine’s vibes, especially at high running speed. A five-speed manual transmission with a cable-actuated clutch puts back the power to a 14-inch rear wheel via chain final drive on the left-hand side of the vehicle.

It drinks from a 1.8-gallon fuel tank, but there is no fuel gauge, nor low fuel level light. There is a petcock valve which allows you to alternate from “on,” “off” for transport, and “reserve” fueling. This is a remnant feature of the mechanical carburetor. We’ve averaged around 60 mpg during the course of our stop-and-go ride through the city. If you’re a cruiser, and can keep the speeds lower, Yamaha says you can get upwards of 70 mpg.

2023 Harley-Davidson CVO Road Glide and Street Glide Preview

No matter how many anniversaries you celebrate, they all come around just once. Harley-Davidson’s bidecacentennial, or 120th anniversary, is coming up. It seems less important than the 125th anniversary, or quasquicentennial. But The Motor Company hasn’t stuck around this long by passing up reasons to promote itself.

With that in mind, two new Harley-Davidson CVO cruisers are being rolled: the Street Glide CVO and the Road Glide CVO. You already know all about H-D’s Custom Vehicle Operations. But for the benefit of search results, let’s reiterate. The CVOs are the best, most expensive (and limited) motorcycles H-D makes.

The 2023 CVO headline? They get very new fairings and the new Milwaukee-Eight VVT 121ci engine. As you’d expect, they get new suspension, new infotainment systems, and new paint and finish options. But the new motor is the Big Deal. A new, larger 1,982cc Milwaukee-Eight motor now features variable valve timing or “VVT,” as stated on the cam cover. This improves performance and (cough) emissions. This brings the CVO engine concept into line with the new Revolution Max engines featured on the Pan America and Nightsters.

Both also get significantly new fairings. The CVO Street Glide gets a more modern and angular fairing, with turn signals integrated with horizontal “lamp elements” that highlight the batwing fairing. The windshield is more upswept and now has a modern looking “Omega-shaped” headlight.

Likewise, the CVO Road Glide gets revised fairings that update the “sharknose” design and integrate turn signals in the fairing structure. The CVO Road Glide’s single LED headlight seems horizontally split into two, a visual play on the traditional side-by-side headlamps on previous designs.

Both redesigns are significant departures from traditional H-D styling. Some online chatter has implied a visual connection to Indian’s Challenger and Pursuit fairing design, with integrated turn signals. Or the Chieftain, with its extruded horizontal edging. As much as Motorcyclist loves criticizing motorcycle design, there’s not much story here. Vetter fairings from the ‘70s integrated turn signals with the fairing and H-D’s traditional design cues mean any departure from orthodoxy gets lots of scrutiny. It’s your call.

Images provided by H-D were appropriately dark and mysterious. But Motorcyclist helpfully added some light and sharpness to them so you can judge them accordingly.

MSRP has not been announced. Both models will be available for sale on June 7.

It usually rains a lot in Portland, Oregon, but it turns out Gore-Tex wasn’t needed at this year’s One Moto Show, which celebrated its 14th edition with balmy temps, blue skies, and a whole lot of sun. There were zero complaints about that turn of events, especially since Thor Drake and his merry crew at See See Motorcycles put on yet another rip-roaring motorcycle event in the vast, shadowy expanse of the Zidell Yards Barge Building in Portland’s South Waterfront.

The one-time shipbuilding structure still serves up copious amounts of grit and grease, but has no actual boats in production (it stopped that in 2016). Which is fine, since gritty and greasy made a perfect backdrop for the hundreds of custom machines that were rolled out this year, and the show definitely didn’t disappoint in either the quantity or quality of the builds we scoped out. Thousands of stoked bike fans flocked through the giant metal doors to check out the renowned Pacific Northwest classic (sold out last year), which held court in the massive metal warehouse for the third year running. As it has consistently done over the last nearly decade and a half, the One Show shone a spotlight on every kind of expressive custom and concept motorcycles you could think of, serving up another epic weekend of art, music, bike demos, stunt shows, live music, and all things moto.

There were also smaller shows taking place within the larger event, including a dozen live bands, the annual 21 Helmets art showcase presented by Bell Helmets featuring 21 pieces of custom head protection decked out with wildly imaginative artwork, and the first-ever Direct Current Show put on by Ryvid, featuring a group of electric motorcycle customs from up-and-coming companies as well some of the more established ones.

But the show’s main focus and reason for being was still its enviable collection of more than 300 custom-built motorcycles on display; some of them weird, a few rare, a bunch of them stone-cold classics, and yet another group that felt completely unconventional.

“When we started 13-plus years ago we noticed there wasn’t a common place for ‘everyone else,’” founder Thor Drake says. “The garage tuner, the racers, the creatives, the weirdos, and the hyper-focused; an inclusive place for all types of people to share stories, learn from one another, and participate together. It was then we decided to host the first One Motorcycle Show, around the concept of ‘The Oneness’…however that interprets.”
