Saturday was super in Las Vegas with celebrity and American muscle cars taking the top spots. The final day of the 2022 Las Vegas Auction was filled with those incredible moments that only Barrett-Jackson can provide.

A 1970 Plymouth HEMI Superbird (Lot #734) rocked the block on Saturday, setting a new auction world record with its $1.65 million sale. The electric sale was followed by a 1963 Chevrolet Corvette 327/360 Z06 Split-Window coupe (Lot #733) for $566,500; a 1958 Chevrolet Corvette Custom Topless roadster (Lot #748) and a 1971 Plymouth HEMI ‘Cuda (Lot #752) each selling for $550,000.

The stars were also out on Saturday with their cars. Aaron Shelby made an appearance on the block for the sale of a 1999 Shelby Series 1 Convertible (Lot #721), a car designed from the ground up by his grandfather, Carroll Shelby. One of the most-talked-about “star cars” – a factory custom 2022 Chevrolet Corvette 3LT convertible is VIN 001 (Lot #742) and was factory customized for Paul Stanley, the founder and guitarist for KISS – electrified the arena when it sold for a price of $198,000. Jason “Captain America” Britton’s 2009 Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG Black Series (Lot #745) also crossed the block for $335,500.

More than 20 record auction sales were set on Super Saturday, including a fan favorite – Lot #751, a 1981 DeLorean DMC-12 “Mr. Fusion Time Machine” Re-creation – which went on to its next adventure for $170,500. A 1951 International Metro “Snap-On Tools” Display Van Re-creation (Lot #671) was also front and center with its sale of $192,500 – setting a new auction world record.

A sale that pointed to a new market of collectibles included an Electro-Mod 1997 Porsche 911 Carrera Custom Electric Cabriolet (Lot #647). The 2022 GMC Hummer EV Edition 1 pickup (Lot #732) received lots of interest and set a new auction world record with its $324,500.00 sale.

The second of two charity vehicles had its turn onstage Saturday afternoon. The 2022 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon 392 (Lot #3001) sold for $125,000 with 100 percent of the hammer price benefiting Ronald McDonald House Charities of Detroit, an independent American nonprofit organization whose stated mission is to create, find and support programs that directly improve the health and well-being of children and their families.

Neon lit up the automobilia auction block with the sale of an animated 1954 Mobil Oil neon porcelain sign (Lot #8299) that brought in $34,500 and a stunning 1940s Greyhound Bus Lines animated neon sign (Lot #8294) which sold for $29,325. 1974 PANTERA GTS: Selling with No Reserve at the 2024 Scottsdale Fall Auction

This 1974 De Tomaso Pantera GTS is one of 138 GTS cars built in this model year. The 351ci Cleveland engine remains in stock condition, except for an improved cold-air intake and exhaust system and is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. An adjustable rear shock tower brace was added as well. It’s finished in Brilliant Silver with a GTS blacked-out hood and engine cover, black leather interior, radio delete and larger custom billet wheels resembling the original design. The designs and materials for performance improvements came from Pantera experts from California, the Midwest and South Florida.

The cooling system has been improved with a radiator, water tubes and flow system design. The air conditioning was moved to the front of the car. The electrical system has improved wiring and ignition. This true GTS is confirmed by the letters “GT” in the VIN. The car has been kept in a climate-controlled collection. Included are several original Pantera parts and original electrical schematic. 16,641 miles (title reads exempt). From the Prestige Collection.

Selling with No Reserve at the 2024 Scottsdale Fall Auction, October 10-13, at WestWorld.

Wrench, Ride, Repeat: Analog reworks the Bimota DB3, again

custom bimota db3 745x497 1

Custom Bimota DB3 Mantra by Analog Motorcycles
Of all the motorcycles that Bimota ever made, the DB3 Mantra is perhaps the most peculiar. As you’d expect from the Italian firm, the DB3 featured a Ducati engine in an aluminum trellis frame and was known for its nimble handling. But its alien-like aesthetic was a little too far out there for most pundits.

As rare as the Bimota DB3 Mantra is, customized examples of it are even rarer. We’ve only ever featured one custom DB3 on these pages—and now, that very same bike is back for another round. It’s just gone under the knife for the second time at Analog—and now looks even better.

Custom Bimota DB3 Mantra by Analog Motorcycles

The DB3’s first makeover happened eleven years ago, when Analog’s Tony Prust modified it for his good friend and drummer of the rock band Chevelle, Sam Loeffler. The bike made waves at the inaugural Handbuilt and Mama Tried shows, and starred in an episode of Café Racer TV. More importantly, Sam rode it… a lot.

More recently, Sam brought the bike back to Tony for a couple of mild changes. He wanted a front suspension upgrade, and he wanted to add a front fender (something that was excluded the first time around).

PACIFIC REGION

Top of the World Highway – Alaska
If you find yourself in Alaska with your collector car, steer towards the charming town of Jack Wade, close to the Canadian border. There, you’ll find the start of an impressive drive on the Top of the World Highway along Alaska 5. Don’t forget your passport, as this road leads you east into Canada, where Alaska 5 transforms into the rugged Yukon 9. It winds through Canada’s breathtaking Yukon Territory and culminates at a ferry terminal in West Dawson, on the scenic banks of the Yukon River. Many say it’s one of the most stunning drives on the planet.

Hana Highway, Maui – Hawaii
One of Hawaii’s most iconic drives awaits you on the island of Maui. Often referred to as the Road to Hana, the winding Hana Highway gracefully hugs Maui’s northeast coast, where lush green cliffs are adorned with cascading waterfalls that tumble down to beaches with golden, black and red sands. During the 52-mile journey you’ll traverse narrow one-lane bridges and pass by fruit stands offering fresh local produce.

WESTERN REGION

Cascade Loop Scenic Byway – Washington

Starting from Pikes Peak, head north on Route 67, and enjoy several picturesque highways before merging onto I-70. Here, you’ll encounter the world’s highest road tunnel, peaking at an impressive 11,158 feet in elevation. Opened to westbound traffic in 1973 and to eastbound traffic in 1979, this engineering marvel spans over 1.5 miles.

Pacific Coast Highway – California
The Pacific Coast Highway, or PCH, is one of the world’s most famous roads.
